Vertigo

Saturday's tour was like skiing inside of a ping-pong ball.  Although the Western Chugach was boasting some sunny sucker holes, the Talkeetna's had us pinned under a thick cloud layer.  Even the folks riding chairs at Arctic Valley had the right idea.

Nonetheless, local Whittier skibum Josh and I made out for a tour with the dogs.  We made quick easy time from the Marmot lot to the weather station and punched a nice line on the Rae-Wallace chutes.  Snow was knee deep and billowing overhead.  Too bad we couldn't see what we were doing.
We skinned across the Rae-Wallace bowl and headed up Microdot.  Despite the hero snow, we skied like to gapers down Nosebleed into the small lake above the rock garden.  Hopping on the cat track, which dogface appreciated, it was smooth sailing all the way back to the truck.  Here's our tour:
We definitely got some volume in and some great lines, despite the low viz.  Hope everyone is enjoying the Fur Rondy festival and gearing up for the Iditarod.  It'll be a fun filled "cabin, BC ski outing, and Iditarod restart in Willow" kind of weekend.  Cheers!
