Links

The first day back off vacation brought some interesting situations.

Clear and cold: -10 degrees at the truck before heading up. No dogface.

Marc leading up the skin track. I was a little tired after 2 weeks of eating and drinking.

Marc reaches the ridgetop and finds is quite windy.

On the ridgetop. The winds picked up a bit and contributed to some wind loading; and frosty beards...

Looking north towards the North Fork area of the Eagle River.

A nice view of the seldom traveled eastern Chugach. On the right is Harp Mtn, left is Eagle River Overlook (overlooking the North Fork), and the really pointy peak way in the background is Polar Bear. While ski cutting the slope over a steep rollover on the way to my shot, I triggered a small wind slab that ran for about 500 feet. I tenderly made my way back to safe terrain and we gingerly made our way down the slope to better snow and lower slope angle.

Looking up at the crown face and bed surface.

Looking uphill when Marc skiis down. My slab avalanche and debris runout is to the lookers left. It ran for about 500 feet.
Marc rips through the epic blower pow, brah.
A complete view of the area known as "Links." Most people were skiing the bowl to the left.
Back at the truck and very cold. No Coors today, just cold smoke powder.

Sam has mentioned how cold it has been for several weeks. You are brave, but sure looks like fun to me. Jay C, Sam's Dad
